INsight/ Three Coaching Skills
/Manila, 3 July 2025 — How do you benefit from coaching, and how do you coach your colleagues?
Story
It happened this week. In the Grow3Leaders community of practice, members reviewed the lessons they had learned from using the coaching style with colleagues. And they raised their top questions to get answered.
What did members learn from practicing coaching in their workplace conversations? First, to listen attentively to their colleagues to understand the challenges they shared. Second, to ask open questions, identify the real problem, and enable their colleagues to consider their available options.
Third, to refrain from giving advice, even when asked, as the coaching style focuses on empowering colleagues to find, clarify, and decide on their own solutions with confidence. That’s easier said than done, which is why we created the LEADcoach Challenge to help our members.
Challenge
Using the coaching style effectively in workplace conversations requires a mindset shift, which members learn and practice together during the LEADcoach Challenge. The coaching mindset is very different from how we normally do our work. Habits need to change.
Our approach to coaching is different in two important ways. First, we help leaders recognize opportunities for using the coaching style more frequently in their work situations. Some of the short coaching styles we teach will lead to results in as little as three to five minutes.
Second, in our 1:1 executive coaching programs, we leverage positive psychology research to help the leaders unlock a deep transformation in their doing, knowing, and being, allowing them to show up with presence and new behaviors that they embody in their actions.
Question
How do you benefit from coaching, and how do you coach your colleagues? This is my question for you this week. With our 1:1 executive coaching programs, you will lift your leadership to a whole new level. Check out what our clients said and then experience the transformation for yourself.
To coach your colleagues, the LEADcoach Challenge will help you to learn and practice essential coaching skills that yield immediate results. You will help them overcome their challenges by clarifying their aims, recognizing resistance, outgrowing their small selves, and wowing themselves with actions that build on their strengths.
We look forward to seeing you in our coaching programs and the Grow3Leaders community of practice soon. Please reach out if you have a question.
